I just want to start off by saying that there are just some student behaviors that are harder to control than others. Rather than punishing students for behaviors they can’t necessarily control, I give them a behavior coupon that actually allows their disruptive behaviors to happen! Crazy, right?!
This product includes:
– 16 behavior coupons allowing common disruptive classroom
*I print a few copies out on cardstock and then laminate them. They are used daily, so they experience a lot of wear and tear.
Here’s how it works in my learning support classroom…
I assign each of my students a coupon upon arrival. I admit that I do distribute coupons to particular students based on behaviors I am trying to control. You can also distribute coupons per hour, class change, day, or whatever you feel fits best you and your students’ needs. All coupons have an expiration – depending upon when you distribute them, which is up to you. Mine expire at the end of a class, when I collect the ones that haven’t been used – if any. I have also withdrawn coupons before.
Over the years these behavior coupons have controlled a lot of my disruption problems! My students know they only get one coupon per class, so they should use it wisely. This is a huge part of my classroom management plan. They are quite fun to use.
