Special Education Co-Teaching Lesson Plan Templates (EDITABLE)

$6.00

As special education co-teachers planning was always a little different. We also need to plan with the general education teacher we are co-teaching with. After a lot of trial and error, I created co-teaching lesson planning templates. The basic format of these co-teaching lesson planning templates make them easy to use and edit to fit any classroom. These lesson planning templates also allow for both the general education teacher and special education teacher to plan daily lessons appropriately.

Description

I’m on my 12th year teaching this 2018-2019 school year, and on my 8th year as a special education co-teacher. I’ve planned a lot of lessons, in both the pull-out and inclusion settings – in grades K-12 learning support and emotional support.

As a special education co-teacher planning was always a little different. I needed to plan with the general education teacher. I needed to decide who would be responsible for what, as well as what I had to prepare and bring to the class. The general education teachers and I didn’t always have planning times together – ESPECIALLY when I was co-teaching in 6 different rooms a day. That’s a lot of teachers to have to meet with. Not to mention a lot of different subjects/grade levels being co-taught. Luckily, the teachers would share their plans with me and we communicated via phones and e-mails if we needed to discuss more. There was a lot of note taking on my part. This year, I am currently co-teaching in one classroom. It’s still a lot of note taking, conversing, and plan sharing – as well as keeping track of lesson planning for the classes I teach in my classroom.

Frequently, I am asked how I do lesson plans in my co-taught classrooms. It’s been a lot of trial and error. This year I decided to take all of my “notes” and turn them into planning templates. I’ve tested them, and fell in love.

These templates have been a huge life saver to me. I’ve created them in a basic format that matches my other special education planning templates. Currently, my district has us submit plans online. However, I like to still take notes keeping track of what was taught, what wasn’t, co-teaching models used, both teacher’s responsibilities, the students who still need extra practice, etc. These templates allow me to do just that.

This download consists of all co-teaching models, support/activity logs, and monthly planning/logs to keep track of the big picture. There are MANY options of use. I have provided examples, included in this download. If you should still be overwhelmed by ALL that’s included, you can always e-mail me! There’s a lot. I can’t lie. Although I don’t use these as my “formal” lesson plans, all plans have an option to list the standards – if you want to make these your formal lesson plan format.

All lesson plan templates were designed in a basic format, allowing for them to be used alone or with any binder/planner you might already have. They also won’t drain your ink!
