Description
My learning support students who are included in an ELA inclusion classroom do A LOT of writing – actually ALL of the students do. Whether it be a few sentences, a paragraph, or an essay, they all write daily. Although I am able to adapt my students’ writing assignments, there are still times when that is just not enough. My learning support students still make simple grammatical mistakes, that I know can be easily fixed. I developed my Writing Reference Rings to help with just that.
What you will be getting:
6 Different Writing Reference Rings
– Paragraph Editing (7 reference cards)
– Correcting Marks (11 reference cards)
– Revising (6 reference cards)
– Punctuation (6 reference cards)
– Capitalization (6 reference cards)
– Parts of Speech (7 reference cards)
1 Blank set to customize to fit your classroom needs
How I use them in my classroom:
I created my Writing Reference Rings to be simple to read and understand for the lower student levels I work with, all while being concise. However, they are perfect for students on all ability levels to use – due to the fact that they are short and to the point. Writing Reference Rings help students to… edit their paragraphs making sure they are well written and constructed, understand what correction marks have been used on their assignment after it has been reviewed and edited, revise and review their finished essays to make sure it is well written and has no errors in conventions, check that correct punctuation was used as well as correct capitalization, and use the correct parts of speech in their writing.
I hang a set in the regular ELA classroom, as well as in my classroom – there are times students report to my classroom to complete graded assignments, or just for extra review. There is also another great ELA classroom accommodation I use with my Writing Reference Rings – I have my students keep a set in their ELA binders! This way they have the ability to access some of the help they receive with me, on take-home writing assignments or daily ELA homework.
You will be receiving Writing Reference Rings as a Powerpoint and as a PDF.
The PowerPoint version allows you to “edit” the blank set by adding your own text boxes to customize them. Whereas the PDF version prints in a better quality, allowing you to only hand write on the blank set you would like to customize.
